2021 hasn’t exactly been the year of influx that 2020 was.

Still, it is with no doubt that I say that there really have been some absolute stunners this year!

And, to be honest, we’d be lying if we said Ruger‘s “Bounce” hasn’t been one of the that have turned heads this year.

Now the awards season is upon us and there are conversations everywhere about songs be christened “Song of the Year” when the time actually comes.

Normally, the songs that would dominate these conversations would be songs like Wizkid‘s “Essence” which although was released as part of “Made in Lagos” last year, is still part of the year that will be in review at the awards this year.

There would, of course, also be songs like Olamide‘s “Rock” and ‘s “Kilometre” in the discussions.

But based on what I’ve seen so far this year, it’d be totally unfair to exclude “Bounce,” just because Ruger isn’t exactly an A-lister. Not yet anyway. Ruger, who is a product of D’Prince‘s Jonzing World outfit which also produced Rema, came earlier this year and released his acclaimed debut project, “Pandemic,” an EP that ultimately produced “Bounce.”

This song has enough streams to be one of the hottest Nigerian songs of this year. Also, it still hasn’t left the charts. It is safe to say it is what “Bad Influence” was in 2020.

But does that qualify as the song of the year? Over to you.

Do You Think Ruger’s “Bounce” Is The Song of the Year 2021?
