Zinoleesky is without a doubt one of the finest young acts in the industry today.
The guy hasn’t even done a lot yet. He’s just a couple of singles and one extended play deep and he’s already a household name. The status he’s attained so far is impressive. For a boy from the streets, that is.
Currently signed to Naira Marley‘s Marlian Records outfit, Zino has a handful of under his belt and hopefully a couple more in his stomach yet unreleased.
His last release, “Naira Marley” is quite the hit. Although not as big as “Kilofeshe” or “Mapariwo,” it wasn’t bad at all. It was a good number on the streets, and it’s got quite the numbers on streaming platforms also. So, yeah, Zino keeps winning. But it’s been more than a year since “Kilofeshe,” his last major mainstream hit, and it’s time he dropped something massive again. I mean, he should be working on giving us an album already, right?
“Gone Far” is an instant groove. Some groove it’s got, really. There’s the revving amapiano percussions and then there’s the uptempo melodies that sound like some work from Rexxie. The track sounds too comfortable, for one. Like it didn’t take any effort on Zino’s part at all. I mean, the lyrics are basic, the idea is simple. Maybe too simple.
Luckily, the release was accompanied by a storylined official music video that everyone should totally check out. But the song itself is basic. However, maybe that’s not really a bad thing. Maybe basic is Zino’s strong suit. Not everyone needs to do conscious stuff like Bella. Zino does this effortlessly and maybe that’s how he’s gonna capture the hearts of new fans and sustain his relevance in the coming years? Well, I don’t exactly know all that.
What I do know is what I’ve heard. I know based on what I’ve heard that “Gone Far” is just what it is; another Zinoleesky single. It won’t be topping any charts or causing any chaos in the industry, not really. Zino’s gonna need to put in more effort to get that kind of attention.
